In the last few days the reality of why I was so excited to move away from home and go to school in Hawaii set in. I’m not missing the humidity, rain, homework, classes, food, or small town, but I am missing the people!
I miss always having a friend around 24/7. Walking down the hall and having 10 people stop you to see what’s up is an everyday thing at BYUH. I have friends here but I’m not as close to them as I used to be, and honestly nothing bets living within 5 minutes of every friend, most being within 1. I still love home more than anything and I am so glad to be here, but I wish I could have packed up my friends and brought them along!!

Home for the summer
and loving it!! I have actually been home for a month now and it is just flying by. I know that next time I think about it I’ll probably be on a flight back to Hawaii, stressing over the start of my last year of school! I can’t believe how close I am to being done. If I had a major other than teaching I would already be graduated and be on to my career. It’s so crazy how time seems to fly.
Since I have been home I have had a lot of chances to look back and think about all the things that have changed in my life. The first week I was home I cleaned out my closet. I found a box of letters that my best friend and I wrote to each other while we were in middle and high school. We talked about the boys we were going to marry and how we were going to live in back to back mansions. Our kids were going to run around and play together, as we baked cookies together and our husbands BBQ. Life was going to be so wonderful after Nick and Drew from 98degrees finally meet us and fell in love. HAHAHA!
I was also able to go to the Miss Vista Pageant. I love pageants in general but Miss Vista will always be my very favorite. I couldn’t help but look at the contestants and think back on my days in their place, I was so scared and I wanted the crown so bad. When I finally won I didn’t know what to do. I just started crying and shaking worse than a Chihuahua. I also watched the queen who was handing down her title. I remember being there too. I was so ready for a break but didn’t want my time as a beauty queen to end either. I loved it so much. Sometimes it seems like just yeaterday I was going to back to back charity events but other times it seems like forever ago.

Another big change happened just in the last few weeks. I broke up with the boyfriend I have had FOREVER! It’s crazy to look back and think of how long we had been together and everything we had been through. I’m not sure if we will ever get back together or not, and it’s weird to not worry about him all the time. All I know for now is that neither one of us was in the place in our relationship we wanted to be, and I don’t think we would ever get there with things going the way they were. It’s hard but I know I’ll look back and laugh the same way I am doing with all the stresses I use to have.
Tomorrow I am going to babysit my little cousin, Lauren. She will be nine in a few days! Wow another crazy thing to think about! I remember going over to my ant’s house when she was a new born and holding her while my ant worked around the house, because Lauren cried if she wasn’t held. I also remember when we found out she had cancer at age three and how scared we all were. Before I know it my little Lauren will be a teenager and as my mom told me today, before I know it I will have a little girl that I’m begging Lauren to babysit.
Anyway I could go on and on about all the things in my life that have changed over the years and how it’s so crazy the way time has just flown by, but this is way to long already and I do need to get to sleep. I’m looking forward to seeing what else the Lord has in store for me and looking back on the stresses I have in my life right now and laughing!

I miss my roommate!
Conversations with my brother go something like this:
Me: “Hey Cheese, how does this outfit look?”
Erik: “Yes”
Me: “That wasn’t a yes or no question.”
Erik: “Well ask me a yes or no question!!”
Me: “Ok, does this look good on me?”
Erik: “No…. I mean yes.... No… YES…. GO AWAY!!!”
Me: “Please Erik, I’m going to be late and I don’t know anybody so I want to at least look ok. PLEASE help me just a little.”
Erik: “You look fine”
Me: “Fine as in it’s a nice outfit but I’m looking kind of fat or fine as in it looks really good on me?”
Erik: “YES… NO….If you don’t go away I’m going to eat your dog!”
