Love this!

If I hadn’t said it already I LOVE kindergarten!! I think teaching kindergarten is what I was born to do! People were betting that I would chance my mind the first day but everyday I leave so in love with my kids! Here is my kindergartener quote of the day. This just might be my all time favorite!

Kindergartener: “Ms. Tyler, I saw you at the Blue Angels!”
Me: “You saw me at the air show? I didn’t see you, why didn’t you say Hi?”
Kindergartener: “Daddy said no because somebody was hitting on you….. Ms. Tyler, hitting isn’t nice… Did he say sorry?”

So Alicia gave me a hard time for stealing her Kindergartener quote of the day idea, but today when I called my mom to tell her what this child said, she told me I should start a blog with all these little quotes. So there Alicia! It’s no longer your idea I stole!!

PS. No, I do not just get hit on by random guys in front of my students! I really have no idea what he was referring too. The creepy guys didn’t appear till I was shopping in the bra section on Saturday, but that’s a whole other story!

DONE!!!

Day 30 – A photograph of yourself today + three good things that have happened in the past 30 days

It’s about dang time!! It took be forever to finish this, but today is the last post!! I must say I’m super excited for this to be over!! (Ok… technically this picture was taken yesterday at the air show, not today. But this post is way over due so I don’t think it really matters!)

Since I didn’t finish this in the 30 day time, I’ll list 3 things that happened to me since I started the challenge:

1. I started teaching kindergarten.
2. I had about a million different adventures, which I meant to write about but never got the chance!
3. I turned 24! Oh dang, I’m so old!!!

One of my friends has a kindergarten quote of the day on her blog so I thought I would steal her idea. Here is mine:

Child one: Ms. Tyler, I hear the Blue Angels can I go outside?
Me: No, you need to finish writing the letter “O”
Child two: That’s not a blue angel, that’s a jet!
Me: You are right, they are jets, but they are called the Blue Angels.
Child one: The Blue Angels flew all the way from California!
Me: Me too, I flew all the way from California to come teach you.
Child three: California is where Disneyland is!!
Child four: Ms. Tyler, you live at Disneyland!!!!!!

Blog Challenge: Day 29

Day 29 – Something you could never get tired of doing.

Watching Beauty Pageants! I know it sounds lame but I really do love them!! I get nervous as if it was me competing. I don’t mean cheesy kiddy pageants or any lame ones, I mean legit competitive pageants where the winner goes out in the community and does good for the world!

28 days down, 2 days to go!

Day 28 – Your favorite movie.

I honestly don’t have a favorite movie. I’m not a huge movie watcher. If it’s not really good and engaging I tend to stop watching or just zone out. But here is a list of some of the ones I really like in no particular order…

Of course there are a lot more movies I like but these are the ones that came to my mind right now.

Perspectives

I now interrupt the regularly scheduled blog challenge for this important message!!

I always thought life would be a whole lot easier if I was a boy. Boys wake up in the morning 5 minutes before they have to be somewhere totally relaxed with not a care in the world. They bend down and pick up the first shirt they see. They don’t care if it is clean, wrinkled, 5 seasons out of style, totally ugly, stained or if they wore it the last 3 days in a row. They just put the shirt on. Then they pick up a pair of jeans, they only own like 2 pairs so it’s not that hard to decide. Again it doesn’t matter if the jeans fit, are clean or if they have been worn every day for the last 6 years. Now they are ready to go! If they are feeling up to it before they leave the house they will put a pea-size amount of gel in their hair and brush their teeth, but I’m not convinced most guys even do that.

(Example)

All a guy has to do to impress a girl is hold a door open and girls go wild!! But honestly, that’s not even a requirement for most girls! Some girls are so desperate to have the attention of a male that they don’t care how much of a jerk the guy is, she will fall all over him. And of course “Bad-boys” are in so being a jerk only makes they girls want you more!!

Guys don’t have to worry about spending 20 minutes in the shower shaving their legs so they are perfectly smooth to the touch, 10 minutes blow drying their hair, 30 minutes straitening their hair, 45 minutes on make-up, and 2 and a half hours on finding the perfect outfit that is in style at the exact moment, brings out the color in their eyes, makes their boobs look bigger, their waist look smaller and their butt look plumber! They don’t have to worry about a horrible visitor that comes once a month making 5 days of their life hell or trying to walk up stairs in 5 inch heels.

I always wished I could some how change all this and be as carefree as guys seem to be. And then came the mandatory dorm meeting… As they were going over rules, like no loud music after 10pm, they made sure to remind the guys that they have toilets in the bathrooms for going number 2, the showers and the hallways are not the place for that. Really? Number 2 in the shower? And HALLWAY?!!

As nasty as I think girls are, I have never come across anything as disgusting as number 2!! I am so thankful that as a girl I don’t have to worry about going into the shower and finding a horrid surprise! And even better I’m thankful that I live in the dorms so if something nasty does happen I can call somebody to clean it up!

Two-Seven

Day 27 – A picture of you last year and now and how have you changed since then?

Last year:

Now:
This was taken last Friday when I went on the hike I wrote about yesterday.

This is a really hard question. I’m not sure I changed that much since last year. A lot of things have happened to me, I know they taught me a lot and I have grown from them but nothing really life changing that is worth writing about. I know a certain somebody is going to accuse me to copping-out but I don’t really care…. The End!

Blog Challenge: Day 26

Day 26 – A photo of somewhere you’ve been to.

I’m a southern California girl living in Hawaii so by definition I have been to a lot of really cool places. This past Friday I went hiking at Maunawili Falls and it instantly became one of my favorite places! When you dream about Hawaii, places like Maunawili Falls is what you envision!! I loved every second of the hike (ok, that’s a little bit of a lie, the stairs sucked hard-core!)

One of the coolest things about the hike is you have to do it barefoot!! I know am just about as girly as anybody can get and a total wuss but I LOVED the idea of hiking barefoot. It made me feel like I was hard-core! Hahaha!!

This hike is also the bomb because not many people know that it doesn’t end at the waterfall. If you climb behind it, go across a rickety bridge that is falling apart, and up a few ladders, you come to another waterfall and some natural waterslides! It so cool!!!

If you don’t live in Hawaii you should come visit me and I will take you on this amazing hike!! (Even if you don’t want to go on the hike come visit me anyway because I miss you!!)
PS. HUGE thanks Brandon for knowing all the little secrets, for taking pictures and putting up with us girls!!

Twenty-four

Day 24 – A photo of something that means a lot to you.

It’s not the best picture of it but in this picture I am wearing the necklace that my grandmother gave me for my 16 birthday. It belonged to my great-grandmother. The reason it means so much to me is because by the time I turned 16 my grandmother was so far along with alzheimer's disease that she didn’t even really recognize me or anybody else in the family. But somehow on my birthday she remembered. This necklace isn’t real diamonds or anything like that and doesn’t have much monetary value but to me it’s worth more than anybody could make in a life time.

With no love,

Melissa

Day 21 – A photo of something that makes you happy.

A lot of things make me happy but something that would make me extremely happy right this moment would be if I had this 5lb evil dog here with me.

I just woke up and I don’t want to get out of bed because that means I have to study for my last final and I just don’t want to. If my little baby was here she would be kissing my face and making me get out of bed... Oh how I love the little monster!!

Another thing that makes me extremely happy is girls night tonight!! Phucket Thai, shopping, my favorite people and who knows what else!! I’m really excited!! Happy Friday!!

..... ok, now I'll study!

Day 20, almost there!!

Day 20 – The meaning behind your blog name.

Lamest prompt so far? I think YES!! “A Day in the Life of Me”… Well, I had to create a blog for my class and it was late and I was tired and it was the best I could come up with at the time. I figured I would blog about my life so it seemed fitting. That’s all!

PS. Only 10 more days of this challenge!!

PPS. Today I taught a lesson to my 5th graders and they LOVED it!!! When the bell rang for recess they asked if they could stay in and continue! It made me feel so good!! Especially after last week’s craziness!! Maybe I’m not such a horrid teacher after all!!!!!!

This is a picture one of the girls in my class drew me. It’s me as a superhero!
