Sometimes life can be disappointing

You know how there is a natural cycle that every child goes through where they think their parents know everything and then they grow up a little, become a teenager, and they think their parents don’t know anything at all? Of course then a few years later they grow up even more and realize their parents know more than they thought and they become super close….

Whatever…Anyway, I never went through that cycle with my mom. Even as a teenager I thought she was the smartest person in the world. She really did have an answer to everything and all my friends would come to her for advice or whatever they needed. Of course I was still a normal teenage girl and I would get in arguments with her but they never lasted long or were very bad. Or at least that’s how I remember it.

So now I’m an adult and I still expect my mom to have an answer to everything and I get super disappointed when she doesn’t. Like when I had pneumonia and I felt like I was going to die. I called my mom not knowing what to do and she had nothing to tell me. How could she not know off the top of her head that I had pneumonia? Hello!! You are my mom you know everything!!! Or tonight when I called and asked her a ridiculous question and her response was, “how they heck would I know Melis?” DUH!! That comes with being my mom; you should know the answer to every little question I have no matter how ridiculous!!

AWWWW... disappointing!!

How NOT to be a Creeper

If you were thinking that this was another post about my wonderful experiences of being a single 25 year old Mormon living in Salt Lake City you would be correct.

Do: Call and text
Don’t: Take a no reply as an invitation to stop by.

Do: Introduce yourself to new people
Don’t: Ask to taste their lip gloss

Do: Go on multiple dates with the same person
Don’t: Assume after the second date you are in a relationship

Do: Have friends of the opposite sex
Don’t: Continuously try to kiss them

Do: Invite to dinner
Don’t: Invite to dinner with your entire family

Do: Acknowledge people you have dated
Don’t: Confront them in front of their new date

Do: Ask for phone number
Don’t: Use your spy skills to find phone number

Do:  Send a facebook friend request
Don’t: “Like” every picture

Do: Ask about work
Don’t:  Show up at workplace

Do: Acknowledge that you live close by
Don’t: Confess that you stare into window wondering if anybody is home

Do: Cuddle
Don’t: Don’t force cuddle

Do: Talk to your friends
Don’t: Tell your friends you found “The One”

Do: Ask about mom
Don’t: Refer to her as your mom

Do: Ask about goals
Don't: Don't make a list of "Our Goals"

Feel free to laugh, I did!

Close your eyes and imagine me getting ready for work in the morning. Imagine me putting on a bran new outfit, fixing my hair really nice and running out the door with just enough time to make it without being late. Now imagine my bran new shoes slipping on the very first step of the 3 flights of stairs I run down multiple times a day. Then imagine be sliding down the rest of the way on my butt. That’s exactly what happened to me the other day!

I was planning on posting pictures of the wonderful little “prizes” I got from my graceful descent, but since I am being accused of making up the falling down the stairs story to cover up for the fact that my boyfriend is beating me I’ll skip the pictures. Let’s just say that I have multiple bruises all along my back side including one the size of Texas which is very noticeable when I tan by the pool or go hot tubbing at night.  Although I am still pretty sore, I can’t help but laugh at the whole thing and I kinda wish somebody was there to see it because I’m sure it would have been awesome to watch.

In other exciting news I got hired on to be a full time teacher for next year!! I am super excited. For right now I’ll be teaching third grade but I might be moved to kindergarten. I’m ok with whatever but I would love to be switched to kindergarten. I miss the little kids so much!!

I have been pretty busy the last few weeks, but everything has been going great. Ok, that was a little bit of a lie. Maybe everything except getting pneumonia. But I can’t even complain about that too much because I was lucky to have a roommate who’s dad is a doctor and was nice enough to help me, friends who came over in the middle of the night to help me get my temperature down to a normal level so I wouldn’t have to go to the ER and roommates who took such good care of me despite the fact that it was impossible for them to sleep at night with my coughing. It still kills me to say I like living here in Utah but how could I not when I have such wonderful people in my life?

Well it’s late and it has been a super hard week with statewide standardized testing so I am exhausted. I’ll have some other funny things I want to post about but they will have to wait for another time.

Hugs!
Mel
